Frequently Asked Questions

How is my monthly repayment calculated?

Monthly repayment = (Loan amount × monthly rate) / (1 - (1 + monthly rate)^-term) + monthly service fee. The initiation fee is typically added to the loan balance or charged upfront.

What is the NCA maximum interest rate?

Short-term loans under R8,000 with terms under 6 months: 5% per month. Personal credit agreements for larger amounts: repo rate + 21% per year (approximately 22.75% at current rates).

Are these NCA fees always charged?

Lenders can charge up to the NCA maximums but don't have to. Some lenders charge lower rates or waive fees for good credit profiles. Always request a pre-agreement quote to see the exact costs before signing.

Can I repay my loan early?

Under the NCA, you have the right to settle any credit agreement early. The lender can charge a settlement fee but cannot penalise you for early repayment. Early settlement reduces your total interest cost.
